The story Medlion was born from

The first 40 days.
The hardest. The most under-supported.

Postpartum recovery coordination for mother and baby. Trained night nannies, lactation consultants, pelvic-floor physio, mood checks, nutrition — and one Recovery Manager who knows your whole story.

How Medlion started

This is how Medlion started — when our co-founder was 7 months pregnant.

Mahima Shalot

Seeded Medlion at 7 months pregnant

It started in week 28 of her pregnancy. Mahima was in a city she didn't grow up in, navigating a hospital system she didn't know, and reading conflicting advice from twelve different family WhatsApp groups.

The clinical care was world-class. The everything else was a void. Where do you stay after the C-section? Who actually trains a night nanny? Why is lactation help only available three days a week? Who explains to your in-laws — kindly — that the swaddling method has changed since 1985? Who keeps you alive during week three when sleep is theoretical?

She kept asking the same question: "Why is no one coordinating this?"

The week her daughter was born, Mahima made a quiet decision. The recovery that mothers, elders, post-op patients and NRI families were missing — it deserved a real platform. Not a marketplace. Not a directory. A coordinated, accountable, human-led recovery operating system.

That platform is Medlion. Postpartum is where it started. And it's still the work we are proudest to do.

What we coordinate

For the mother, the baby, and the family around them.

Night nannies

Identity-verified and background-checked — so the mother can actually sleep. Updates on the night — feeds, waking, how the baby settled — shared with you each morning.

Lactation support

Certified lactation consultants. Prompt in-home support when a latch issue comes up. Continuous, not one-off.

Mother's recovery

Pelvic-floor physio, scar care, sleep and nutrition support, plus regular check-ins on how she's doing — the mother is a patient too, and we treat her like one.

Newborn paediatric reviews

Weekly paediatric visits at home — checking weight, feeding and how the baby is settling, with any concern raised to you and the paediatrician directly.

Family-network filter

One Recovery Manager handles the family conversations — kindly, clearly — so the mother can rest.

Mood & wellness

Regular, honest check-ins on how she's doing — never a clinical screening tool, but never skipped either. A real, sustained heaviness is raised to a doctor without delay.

Your case's first 40 days, mapped

Once your care team is set, every week has its own milestone — and its own help.

Week 1

Survival + safety

Night nanny, latch help, scar care, breastfeeding establishing, household reset. The goal is rest.

Week 2

Rhythm + recovery

Sleep windows, feeding rhythm, perineum care, gentle mobility, check-ins on how mum's doing.

Week 3-4

Rebuilding strength

Pelvic-floor physio, postpartum nutrition, mood check-in, wound healing reviewed, baby's first paediatric review.

Week 5-6

Re-entry

Light activity, social calendar, support tapering, family-network reset, 6-week postnatal clearance.

What families ask

What new mothers actually ask us

You're not alone in what you're feeling. Here's what we hear most often — and exactly how we handle it.

"I don't even know what I don't know about the first 40 days."

Your Recovery Manager walks you through the entire timeline — feeding, sleep cycles, mother's body, the visitor calendar, the night shifts — before week one.

"We need someone we can trust with the baby at night."

Night nannies (identity-verified and background-checked) — so the mother can sleep, fully and safely. Updates on how the night went are shared with you each morning.

"I'm worried about breastfeeding. Will I have real support?"

Certified lactation consultants on call. Prompt in-home support when latch issues come up. Continuous follow-up — not one-off advice.

"What about my own recovery? It feels like everyone's focused on the baby."

The mother is the patient too. Real pelvic-floor physio, scar care, nutrition and sleep planning from real people — plus regular, honest check-ins on how she's doing. She is cared for, not just the baby.

"My family means well but the advice is overwhelming."

One Recovery Manager filters the noise. What's helpful, what's outdated, what's gentle to set aside — said clearly and kindly to everyone involved.

"Postpartum mood feels heavy. Is that normal? Should I worry?"

Regular check-ins log how she's doing and how she seemed that day — never a clinical tool, but never a casual afterthought either. A real, sustained heaviness is flagged to the family early and honestly, and a doctor is looped in if it needs one.

Safe & nurturing

A home that holds the mother — calm, light, never clinical.

We set up the space, the routine, the people. Recovery is gentle, dignified and tuned to the body's actual timeline — not the WhatsApp group's.

Coordination available

We coordinate this across our care network. Tell us your situation and where you are, and we'll arrange the right professionals.

A coordinated need — not a single service

Pregnancy & new-mother care is usually one coordinated journey.

Tell us the situation and we coordinate everything it needs — the difference between a directory and a healthcare system.

  1. 1. Need

You tell us the situation, in your words.

  2. 2. Understand

We make sense of the whole situation — not one box.

  3. 3. Connect

We match the right people — identity- and background-checked.

  4. 4. Deliver

Care happens — and we track that it did.

  5. 5. Continue

It doesn't stop at one visit.

  6. 6. Establish

There's a record of what happened you can trust.

What we'll understand about your situation

  • How far along, or how recent was the delivery?
  • Vaginal delivery, C-section, or were there complications?
  • Is support needed for the mother, the newborn, or both?

Why families trust this

  • Trained postpartum and newborn caregivers
  • Newborn-safety protocol on every engagement
  • Lactation and physiotherapy pulled in when needed
